Representing Domestic Violence Victims

Our attorneys are experienced at helping victims of domestic violence obtain protective orders. Under Georgia law, if you believe that someone will commit acts of violence against you, you have a right to go to seek a temporary protective order. This process involves filling out a petition and telling a judge about circumstances such as:

  • Spousal abuse
  • Child abuse
  • Threatening behavior
  • Stalking

If the judge believes that you are in immediate danger, they will issue a temporary protective order and schedule a hearing within 10 days. The order can forbid the accused person from coming near you or your home, and he or she can be sent to jail for violating it.

One of the experienced lawyers at our firm can draft your protective order petition, represent you before the judge and advocate on your behalf at the hearing.

Protecting the Rights of the Accused

If you've been served with a protective order forcing you to vacate your home, you will want to get a lawyer as soon as possible. Our attorneys know that not all allegations are true and are experienced at protecting the rights of respondents in restraining order hearings.

We also know that there are two sides to every story and can help you pursue a mutual protective order to protect yourself as well. We can also provide you with criminal defense representation if you are charged with any domestic violence offenses.
